'King Kong' Up For Five Empire Awards

Peter Jackson�s �King Kong� has been nominated for five awards by Empire Magazine.

The film starring a giant monkey is up for  Best Film, Best Director, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Actor for Andy Serkis, and Best Actress, for Naomi Watts.

Despite receiving rave reviews and taking big at the box office �King Kong� failed to be nominated for any of the major awards at the Golden Globes, Bafta�s or Oscars.

Other films nominated for Empire awards include Oscar hopefuls, �Crash�, �Pride & Prejudice�, �Brokeback Mountain� and �Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit�.

According to MSN, Empire Magazine's Editor in Chief Colin Kennedy said: "This outstanding and diverse line-up is the only shortlist to celebrate the best movies of 2005, films that were not only widely seen by the ordinary public but cherished and remembered some months later.�

The winners will be presented with their awards by Bill Bailey on March 13 at the Hilton London.
