Peter Jacksons King Kong has been nominated for five awards by Empire Magazine.
The film starring a giant monkey is up for Best Film, Best Director, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Actor for Andy Serkis, and Best Actress, for Naomi Watts.
Despite receiving rave reviews and taking big at the box office King Kong failed to be nominated for any of the major awards at the Golden Globes, Baftas or Oscars.
Other films nominated for Empire awards include Oscar hopefuls, Crash, Pride & Prejudice, Brokeback Mountain and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
According to MSN, Empire Magazine's Editor in Chief Colin Kennedy said: "This outstanding and diverse line-up is the only shortlist to celebrate the best movies of 2005, films that were not only widely seen by the ordinary public but cherished and remembered some months later.
The winners will be presented with their awards by Bill Bailey on March 13 at the Hilton London.
