Lady Gaga, Dallas Buyers Club, Elton John and Blue is the Warmest Color are amongst the acts who made the large shortlist of nominees for the 2014 GLAAD Media Awards, announced today.
The nominees for the 25th annual awards ceremony, which will be taking place in Los Angeles on April 12 and New York on May 3, have been whittled down to 130 candidates by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organisation which monitors how the LGBT community are being portrayed in the media and ranges across a variety of areas including music, TV, film and books.

Among the musicians who have received nominations are legendary crooner Elton John, 'Born This Way' star Lady Gaga, Canadian twin sisters Tegan and Sara, alt-rock band Vampire Weekend and English electronic duo Goldfrapp.

Dallas Buyers Club, which stars Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof who has been diagnosed with HIV, has also received a nomination as has Philomena which stars Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, and Blue Is The Warmest Color.
Behind The Candelabra which stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon as Liberace and his lover Scott Thorson respectively, will also complete for a GLAAD award.

Over in the comedy TV section, Modern Family will take on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, musical Glee, Netflix's critically-acclaimed Orange is the New Black' and Please Like Me, while Grey's Anatomy, Shameless, Pretty Little Liars and Orphan Black have also received nods.
The Los Angeles will be taking place at the Beverly Hilton and the Waldorf Astoria in New York while honorees for each city will be announced in the coming weeks.
