The former prison warden opened the star-studded event with a jaw dropping duet with the legendary show man and her musical hero Michael Bolton, covering the classic ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ with Bolton teasing the collaboration may well be appearing on the forthcoming record.
Going against what’s become the traditional X Factor approach of releasing the winner’s debut album alongside the programme’s live shows, Sam confirmed the rush release of her “mostly covers” album last year.
Speaking to the Official Charts Company, she revealed: "2014 is going to be a huge year for me. Basically, I'm in the studio pretty much straight away. We're hoping to get an album out for spring. On the album, I'm going to try and do things a little bit differently.
"I want to do some songs that people haven't heard in a while, and bring back some stuff that people probably haven't even heard of, so that it feels like a new song."
She went on: "I'm going to try and do some stuff of my own and get some songs out there that are originals. We're getting our head together in the next few weeks just to see what we can come up with.
"I'm really excited and I'm just ready to knuckle down and get this album out."
The album will include Sam’s debut single ‘Skyscraper’ which went on to become last year’s coveted Christmas number one.
