Renee Fleming To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl: 5 Of The Best Performances

Bruno Mars will headline the half time show

Joining the likes of Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey, opera singer Renee Fleming has been announced to sing the National Anthem at this year's Super Bowl game taking place next month.

The four-time Grammy winner will put a classical spin on The Star-Spangled Banner before the NFL game taking place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 2, Fox has confirmed.

The choice of singer is certainly justified as Fleming, who is often described as “the people's diva,” was awarded with the National Medial of Arts, America's highest honour for an individual artist and has also performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert, the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and the Beijing Olympics.

Bruno Mars will perform at the Half Time Show (WENN)

It was previously confirmed that 'Locked Out Of Heaven' hitmaker Bruno Mars would be performing during the half time show following on from Beyonce's storming set in 2013. Alicia Keys gave a stunning rendition of the National Anthem last year but who else has wowed before the big game?

In no particular order, here are Five of the Best Super Bowl National Anthem Performances ever:

Alicia Keys

Whitney Houston

Mariah Carey

 Jennifer Hudson

Faith Hill
