The Jamaican Cinematograph Authority decided yesterday to allow the release of the controversial gay cowboy film Brokeback Mountain to go ahead.
Despite winning numerous awards and rave reviews, Ang Lees love story has still pissed off all the homophobes out there.
Especially those in Jamaica where homosexuality is illegal and where the release of the film has caused outrage among church groups.
Major Neil Lewis, chairman of Family Life Ministries, who is opposed to the film being shown in Jamaica said: "I'm very distressed about it. We are allowing Hollywood to swamp us with wrong things. It's dragging us down in the maelstrom of immortality."
The film will be shown in two cinemas owned by Palace Amusement Ltd, one in Kingston and one in Montego Bay.
Melanie Graham, a spokeswoman for the company said: "I think we are living in an open society and no one is being forced to see it. I don't know what the fuss is about."
Neither do we...
