Vin Diesel is the latest actor to officially be joining a host of Hollywood A-listers starring in the upcoming Marvel science-fiction movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy.
The Fast & Furious star will be voicing the role of Groot, a giant tree alien, in the movie.
The 46-year-old will join an official cast that includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillian as Nebula and Dave Bautista as Drax.
Speaking about his excitement at having Diesel join the team, the film's director James Gunn wrote on Twitter: "Vin Diesel is a super awesome dude. I can't tell you how much I like this guy."
But we can't say the casting is a completely shocking one however, seeing as it's been rumoured for a while now.

Diesel himself even revealed to USA Today in July that he had been having meetings with Marvel about potentially being one of their superhero recruits.
"To put it this way, the meeting with Marvel was a strange meeting to have in 2013," Diesel said. "On the street they say real recognizes real, and in that meeting you would say brand recognizes brand – in a real way. For a lucky kid from New York, it's a surreal feeling."
The actor also teased the role when he uploaded a comic-book panel of Groot in August to his Facebook page.
He also posted a video to the social networking site, in which he said: ‘Even though my father taught me there are no small roles, only small actors, I have one line in the movie but that doesn’t mean anything.
‘I’m still going to make it the best thign I possibly can even if it means taking Andy Serkis to a whole other level, which is what we want to do with our motion capture.’
Diesel's character can communicate with plants and has powers of regeneration and growth, has a penchant for saying "I am Groot!" and is best pals with fellow Guardian Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper in the upcoming movie.) Not bad!
Guardians Of The Galaxy is slated for release on August 1 next year.
