Strictly Come Dancing 'Vote Leak' Puts Susanna Reid Miles Ahead Of Rivals

Abbey Clancy and Sophie Ellis-Bextor are struggling to keep up with popular newsreader

Susanna Reid is basically a dead cert to win Strictly Come Dancing tonight, if a vote leak in a major newspaper proves to be true.

The BBC newsreader has been picking up steady scores over the course of this year's long, long series, and her likeability with the public seems to be through the roof.

The Mirror claims today that she and her professional partner Kevin Clifton have been topping the votes every week for the last month, scoring a mammoth 38% share last weekend.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Abbey Clancy were more-or-less level, earning 15% each, while Natalie Gumede - who has been picking up the strongest scores from the judges throughout the run - was stranded in the dance-off with Patrick Robinson.

Still, the finale this year is a lot more open than in previous years - with three of the four finalists picking up perfect scores at least once since the show began in September.

Reid is going into tonight as the narrow favourite with bookies, but Clancy and Ellis-Bextor are a hairline behind her.

“We are expecting a record final night as the most exciting Strictly comes to its conclusion.” William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said in a statement. “Susanna is the favourite but this competition is wide open.”

Earlier today we revealed that Ellis-Bextor had beaten Reid by just 1% in our popularity poll.
