Leona Lewis and Avicii have been the major climbers on this week's midweek charts as the biggest players for next week's coveted Christmas number one begin to emerge.
However comeback queen Lily Allen is still fending off all competition with her cover of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' but only just - as a mere 7,000 copies separate the entire top four!
Leona storms both this week's single and album charts (WENN)
Following last weekend's slightly bizarre but still totally fantastic X Factor performance, Leona's stormed this week's singles charts vaulting from 34 to four with her ridiculously catchy Christmas single 'One More Sleep' while Avicii's 'Hey Brother' currently sits just ahead at number two.
Further down the countdown Jason Derulo steadily climbs into the top ten at number nine with his latest effort 'Trumpets' with Pharrell's 'Happy' taken from this year's Despicable Me 2 soundtrack hangs just outside the top ten at 11. And of course as we get ever nearer to Christmas day Mariah Carey begins her annual climb up the UK Top 40 with her classic 'All I Want For Christmas' sitting comfortably at number 12.
The latest offering to come from Justin Bieber's #MusicMondays campaign, 'Confident' makes it's debut at number 17 with Jessie J rounding off the top 20 with 'Thunder', the third cut to be taken from her second album 'Alive'.
Michael Buble makes the biggest leap over on the album charts (WENN)
Meanwhile over on the album charts sees another dramatic rise for Leona as her 'Christmas, With Love' LP filled with all your Xmas faves shoots up 17 places to number eight just behind Michael Buble who currently holds strong with both 'Christmas' and 'To Be Loved' which sit at number six and five respectively.
But unsurprisingly One Direction look invincible at the top of this week's album charts with 'Midnight Memories' which was named as the fastest selling album of the past two years earlier this month shifting a staggering 237,000 copies in it's first seven days.
Next week sees the battle for this year's Christmas number one kick off as we see new releases from The Big Reunion, Katy Perry and of course this year's X Factor winner battle out for the most important top spot of the year.
