Fightstar's Charlie Simpson Nearly Had Mental Breakdown

Fightstar frontman Charlie Simpson has revealed that he nearly had a mental breakdown during his time in Busted.

His desire to leave the pop world behind and start a new rock outfit left the singer feeling ill and desperate to leave Busted.

Speaking during an interview with The Sun Charlie said: Nine months before I left Busted I was in Germany and I broke down.

I nearly had a mental breakdown. I asked my manager to not book anything else, so that I could leave Busted as soon as I had a completely free schedule.

I only really told my family and close friends but I think Matt and James had an idea I was unhappy. At the time the real life I was leading was with Fightstar.

Now Charlie has swapped screaming girls for sweating boys at his gigs he seems a whole lot happier.

His former band mate James Bourne has gone to recreate his Busted success with new band Son of Dork and Matt James is happily enjoying stints in and out of rehab...everyones happy.

Fightstars new album Grand Unification is out on March 3.
