Fans have been waiting a whole year for Peter Jackson's next movie in The Hobbit series, and with the Los Angeles premeire of the second film The Desolation of Smaug taking place last night, the wait is drawing to a close.
Sherlock co-stars and now Hobbit leads, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch both showed up for the big night at the TCL Chinese Theatre, with Benedict, who plays the dragon Smaug in the new movie looking dashing in a smoking jacket.
Martin, who stuck to a classic tux, bought along his partner Amanda for the screening, which kicks off a busy couple of weeks of promotions and premieres for the anticipated movie.
Orlando Bloom was also in LA, with the movie seeing him reprise his role as Legolas. The actor turned up solo for the red carpet, following his recent split from wife Miranda Kerr but he soon found co-star Evangeline Lily to cosy up to with the pair sharing a big hug when they saw each other.

The Lost actress looked amazing in an ethereal two tone gown with a flowing skirt, wearing her long brunette locks in an on trend fishtail braid.
While Peter Jackson, with his teenage daughter Katie, and Ed Sheeran, who has provided a song for the movie's soundtrack, where also on the red carpet, one notable absence was Sir Ian McKellan.
The actor, who reprises his role as Gandalf, is currently in New York for his new Broadway double bill with Sir Patrick Stewart of Waiting for Godot and No Man's Land. The actor did his bit for The Hobbit though, appearing on The Today Show to chat about the new film this week.
The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is released internationally on December 13.
