Sam Bailey is currently wowing viewers every weekend on the X Factor and we've watched on as the hopeful's confidence improves week by week, but when we caught up with the singer, she told us that she hasn't always been happy with the way that she looks, even referring to a particularly "dark period" in her life.
EntertainmentWise presenter Georgie Barrat chatted to Sam backstage at the talent competition earlier this week and when she was congratulated on her new look, Sam said that the talent show has helped her confidence a lot.
Bailey told us: "Because I've lost lost some weight, I've got a lot more confident. It was a dark period in my life when I put loads of weight on, quit smoking and just became kind of complacent with my life, so doing something like this has brought me out of the other side.
"I'm getting my old confidence back that I had years ago - I'm not exactly a size eight though..."
When quizzed on her outfit choices each weekend, Sam added: "I'm not really a dressy kind of person, but looking back at last week's, for example, I loved the dress that I wore and there's a few times when I have fat days, as we all do and I have them quite a lot."
We think you look great, Sam!

Meanwhile, it seems like somebody else who is also a fan of Sam Bailey and her new look is One Direction babe Harry Styles, who recently comforted the singer after she broke down backstage.
The boyband pre-recorded their rendition of 'Story Of My Life', which aired last weekend, seven days earlier, and had the chance to meet the contestants backstage.
Bailey has told The Sun that she was having an emotional moment backstage when the curly- haired hunk took her to one side to comfort her.
“I thought I was going to be in the bottom two and I was also having a fat day, like most women do, and I was getting really tearful,” she recalled. “Harry saw me crying, put his arm around me and said, ‘Come on babe, pull yourself together, you are Sam Bailey, you are amazing’.”
She went on: “He pulled me into the make-up room to put his hands on my shoulders and said, ‘What can I do to help? I have been there myself, I know it is stressful, you just need to keep chilling’.
“The pep talk couldn’t have come at a better time. It was a real boost.”
