Kelly Brook Names Madonna As Teenage Fashion Inspiration

The model admits that she had dodgy perm growing up

Model Kelly Brook has taken a break from being linked to eligable bachelors long enough to divulge her top beauty secrets - including scrunching her hair with hairspray, and how lipstick gives her confidence.

Kelly has confessed all her beauty sins in an interview with The Telegraph this week, after she admitted that growing up her biggest style icon was the 'Like A Virgin' singer Madonna.

The brunette beauty said: "As a teenager, my icon was Madonna, and I would buy tonnes of hairspray (I had a bad perm and would scrunch my hair). I'd go through a can of hairspray a week."

Wow! And we thought our addiction to crimping was a mistake.

The lingerie designer also spoke about her first dabble into the world of beauty was due to her grandmother. Kelly told the newspaper: "My earliest beauty memory was at my grandmother's house. She was always into beauty products and I remember her teaching me how to cleanse my face using Anne French Cleansing Milk."

As a model it is crucial for Ms Brook to keep her skin in tip-top condition as she admitted that her main concern these days is keeping her skin looking fresh, but instead of creams and potions, the star is going down a more unusal path, creditting an alkaline diet for the clear visage.

Kelly explained: "Nowadays, my ethos is to take good care of my skin - but I also think that if you have a clear and happy mind, that shines through and makes you beautiful. I'm reading about the alkaline diet and that seems to make a lot of sense. But I also still love all things beauty."

It may come as no surprise that the 33 year-old has many make-up tricks up her sleeve. She revealed that "My biggest beauty secret is contouring; it gives you a completely different bone structure.

"Beauty boosts your confidence and makes you feel wonderful. A lovely dress and some lipstick can really pick up your mood - but get it wrong and it can be a disaster."
