Lady Gaga got addicted to marijuana when she was suffering from a labaral tear in her hip in 2012 and smoked up to 15 weed-filled cigarettes each day.
The 27-year-old singer was wheelchair-bound for quite some time and she used the drug which is legal in some American states such as California with a prescription.
The star – whose real name is Stefani Germanotta – tried to shift the habit but found that it crept back in after a short while.
“I was smoking 15 joints a day,” she confessed to Attitude magazine. “It was a habit that eventually occurred when the pain got so bad with the hip.
“I was just numbing, numbing, numbing myself then sleeping it off, then getting on stage, killing it in pain, then getting off and smoking, smoking, smoking, not knowing what the pain was.

“F**k if I know what hurts the most, you know? I would break the habit and it would sneak back in and I would break it and sneak back in.”
The Class B drug can apparently decrease short-term memory, impair motor skills, induce feelings of paranoia and anxiety make eyes appear red.
Gaga reportedly thinks that dealing with the trauma of having to appeal sexual in the music industry may have contributed to her need to chill out with cannibis and feel out of this world.
“Yeah it’s trauma,” she said. “I went through terrible experiences early in my career climbing through swine and swine of men in the music industry — just trying to get somebody to listen to my music and take me seriously as a songwriter instead of trying to get me to b**w them.”
She’s also admitted to using party drug Molly according to The Sun newspaper.
In order to squash her addiction she turned to 66-year-old performance artist Marina Abramovic who put her in intense rehabilitation and made sure she starved for 72 hours.
“Marina said, ‘OK, you’re coming to my house — no television, no computer, no marijuana, no nothing, no food. For three days, art only. You eat only art’,” Gaga added to Attitude.
“She put me in the woods for three hours blindfolded and said, ‘I need you to find your way home. We will be here silent to make sure you don’t fall off any cliffs’. There were cliffs all around.
“So I was walking and I started to cry because I hadn’t felt so connected to the earth for so long. Just being me, with the forest and the sound of the birds and the running water, but there was nothing but me and my pure talent to save me. I didn’t fall once. I stumbled but I didn’t fall.”
It made her suddenly give up weed and now she only has the drug for a good time.
“I cold-turkeyed. For weeks and weeks I didn’t smoke at all,” she shared.
“Now I smoke a little bit at night just, you know, for fun. But not to cope — that’s the difference. I’m the soberest I’ve ever been in the past five years.”
