Ricky Gervais To Write American Episode Of 'The Office'

British comedian Ricky Gervais is to pen another episode of �The Office� but only for American TV.

Gervais and his writing buddy Stephen Merchant will write the new episode for the hugely successful US version of the UK comedy show.

The US version of the show stars Steve Carell as David Brent. He has recently signed up for a third series of the show while TV network NBC has commissioned another 22 episodes of the show to cater for their audience of 10million viewers.

Gervais is currently working on a new series of �Extras� it has been recently rumoured that Brad Pitt and Madonna have signed up to appear as themselves�Gervais is also hoping to recruit Tom Cruise to appear in an episode.
