Chris Hemsworth Didn't Want To Go Shirtless For Thor 2

The hunky Aussie hesitated before taking his shirt off in the opening moments of the sequel.

Chris Hemsworth returns as the Asgardian god of thunder in Thor: The Dark World as does his impressive torso. But the four seconds of Chris shirtless almost didn’t happen.

Thankfully Joss Whedon was on set to give Chris the explanation necessary to have him reveal his amazing bod, if only for a moment.

"That [scene] kind of came from Joss actually. He just said that there needed to be something romantic in there," Chris told MTV News. “Then he said, 'Chris, get your shirt off.'”

Thank you Mr. Whedon!

But as a talented actor, Chris asked about his motivation before he tore off his tight t-shirt.

“I said, 'Well, I don't know. What's the why? What are we doing?' The justification was that it was him coming home from battle, washing blood off his hands. It is what it is,” Chris said.

Whatever the reasoning, millions of fan girls appreciate Chris’ sacrifice for his craft.

The scene takes place at the beginning of the film as Thor returns from the “Battle of New York” featured in The Avengers. He splashes cool water over his bare torso as he reflects back on his time protecting the city.

Chris admitted he doesn’t hunger for the sweets or fatty foods while keeping in shape for his role in back-to-back-to-back movies. He actually would desire not to eat at all.

“I basically overfeed on protein and endless amounts of chicken breast and steak and fish and vegetables and brown rice.”

Give this guy a chocolate bar. He’s earned it!

See Chris and his co-stars Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman stun at the London premiere of Thor: The Dark World.
