One Direction's 'Midnight Memories' Becomes Fastest-Selling Album In 15 Years On Amazon

The album has broken records in pre-orders alone


One Direction have smashed yet another record with their upcoming album 'Midnight Memories' which has become the fastest-selling album on Amazon UK in 15 years despite the album not being released until November.

The 'Kiss You' heartthrobs will be releasing their third album on November 25 but fans have been storming sites like Amazon to snap up pre-orders ahead of the official release to ensure they don't miss out on getting a copy and it's already had a positive affect on their sales as the album has incredibly become the fastest-selling in Amazon's 15 year history.

'Midnight Memories' will feature the singles 'Best Song Ever' and the upcoming 'Story of My Life,' and will be supported by a mammoth stadium tour, titled 'Where We Are,' next year. The band celebrated their latest achievement by tweeting from their official Twitter account: "Wow - 'Midnight Memories' is the fastest selling album of all time on @AmazonUK based on pre-orders! Thanks so much everyone! 1DHQ x."

Meanwhile, Adele has been named the biggest-selling artist overall on Amazon across all types of formats while Coldplay comes in second and The Beatles in third place. Not far behind is 'Applause' singer Lady Gaga, who will be releasing her new album 'ARTPOP' in November, at number four while Rihanna rounds off the top five. Canadian crooner Michael Buble also slips in at number six.

Speaking about Adele's impressive achievement, Mark Firth, head of music at Amazon, said: “Adele’s achievement in securing both the best-selling artist title and the top two best-selling albums of the past 15 years on Amazon.co.uk is remarkable.”
