Lady Gaga Feared 'Disrespecting' TLC After Writing Song For Their Comeback

Gaga originally penned the song for herself

Lady Gaga was apparently worried that she would “disrespect” 90s girl group TLC as a song which she has written for their comeback but originally intended for release by the 'Applause' star, sounds similar to music they would have recorded at the height of their fame.

Gaga, who performed at the iTunes Festival at Camden's Roundhouse on Sunday, has teamed up with 'Waterfalls' hitmakers Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas to write the track 'Posh Life' to feature on their upcoming greatest hits album which will be their first in eight years.

According to the duo, while Gaga has given the song to their next album, she apparently was hesitant for them to hear the track as she believed it sounded too much like a classic TLC song.

“She was like, 'I don't want to disrespect the girls,' so we were like, 'Let's sing it and see how it goes. I mean, you wrote it.' It was so funny [hearing] her [sing] like us, so hilarious,” T-Boz told MTV News.

“I was just like, why not sing it then? And she was just like so excited and we're excited.”

T-Boz goes on to hint that TLC could even team up for an actual collaboration in the future, adding: “She wants to. You know them record company people. If it was up to the artist, all three of us are down. So we'll see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Gaga is gearing up for the release of her third album 'ARTPOP' in November and previewed eight tracks from the record at her iTunes Festival performance over the weekend, while TLC's '20th Anniversary Hits,' will be released on October 18.
