Marvel Confirm Bradley Cooper For Guardians Of The Galaxy Role

Silver Linings Playbook star will play Rocket Raccoon

Bradley Cooper has been confirmed to star in Marvel's all star epic Guardians of the Galaxy.

The actor will voice machine-gun wielding character Rocket Raccoon in the superhero movie, it's been confirmed by Marvel.

The confirmation follows director James Gunn's recent tease over who has been cast, telling Hey You Guys that they had somebody in mind for the part from the early stages:

"We'll have to wait for a few weeks to see. We'll get our dream guy, because a lot of people want to do it, so we'll get the person who's perfect for the role."

Bradley joins an all-star line-up which includes Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana and Glenn Close, with the movie schedule to hit cinemas on August 1, 2014.

The studio also took the opportunity this week to release an updated synopsis for the film, which wil no doubt excite fans:

"In the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an unlikely cast of characters including Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon must join forces to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions."

"Directed by James Gunn, the live-action Guardians of the Galaxy will take fans to new corners of the Marvel Universe when it hits theaters August 1, 2014."
