She once, and very famously, sang about girls just wanting to have fun - but in Cyndi Lauper's eyes, not the kind of good times that Miley Cyrus was having on-stage at the MTV Video Music Awards this week!
Proving that things have changed rather dramatically - and in her eyes, not for the better - in the thirty years since her anthem empowered her female fans, the Eighties legend slammed Miley for her racy performance at the ceremony on Sunday night.
As most people are aware of now, Miley caused a huge stir after she took to the stage in a flesh-colored latex bikini to join Robin Thicke as he sang his hit song Blurred Lines.
The 20-year-old then proceeded to bump and grind against the 36-year-old star, sticking her tongue out and using a foam hand to rub against her groin.

And speaking to Australia's Brig & Lehmo on Gold 104.3, Lauper slated Miss Cyrus for her racy display and said it was like watching soft porn and said: "That was girl gone wild. So sad, so sad."
The 60-year-old also said it was wrong of her to dance to a song that promoted date rape and sent the wrong message to her young fans.
She said: "She's in a song that literally says that the blurred lines allowed you to—when a woman says no, she means yes—and that's frightful because that's date rape. And there she is, a young twentysomething trying to prove she can hang with the big boys and girls, you know, basically simulating a Girl Gone Wild video onstage. And I just felt like that was so beneath her and raunchy, really raunchy. It wasn't even art."
Lauper wasn't alone in her condemnation for Miley's performance - many slammed her on Twitter including several celebrities.
But others actually came to her defence, including Selena Gomez, One Direction and Adam Lambert, who Tweeted: "Listen if it wasn't ur cup of tea—all good but why is everyone spazzing? Hey—she's doin something right. We all talking."
He does have a very good point...
