Speaking to the Daily Telegraph over the weekend Samantha said she chose Serkis' British studio over major Hollywood rivals who also expressed interest in the film rights because "they’re a British company and I felt they got the book and would keep to its spirit."
The Bone Season, set in 2059, tells the story of Paige Mahoney, a 19-year-old clairvoyant who is employed to break into people’s minds to find out their secrets.
