Kate Middleton Baby 'To Be Named Alexandra, Expected To Be Born On July 17'

The betting on the Duchess of Cambridge's firstborn has reached fever pitch

It would seem that Brits love a flutter, as bookies are reporting a considerable amount of bets being placed on various aspects of Kate Middleton and Prince William's first child's arrival - with the most fancied name, date and even weight being revealed.

William Hill have reported that Alexandra is the most betted-on name, revealing that the public are expecting a girl.

“With a market like this we would expect to see a couple of serious gambles as the date of the birth draws ever closer but as it stands we have not seen a massive rush for any one specific (barring Alexandra as the name) which makes us think that we probably have a couple more weeks to wait yet,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Charlotte, Elizabeth, Diana, Victoria, Mary and Eleanor are also popular choices, with George the only male name in the fourteen top-ranked options.

Odds of 1/2 can be found for the baby being a girl, with 6/4 for a boy.

Mid-July is looking like the most anticipated time for the birth, with the 17th in particular the current favourite on 9/1. July 15th, 16th and 18th are all at 10/1 - and you can get odds of 28/1 that the Duchess will go into labour as early as tomorrow (July 1).

Even the weight has come under scrutiny - with punters expecting the royal sprog to come in at between 7lbs and 7lbs 15oz.

Are you one of the people who has placed a bet on Kate and Wills' firstborn? What did you bet on?!
