Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page was awarded an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
However, the rocker received the prestigious honour for his humanitarian work in Brazil rather than his contribution to music.
Page said he was overwhelmed to receive the honour and spoke about his plight to help street children in Brazil in the mid-nineties. Page joined the charity Task Brazil to help the children.
He said after receiving the OBE: At that time in Rio the sun wasn't shining. The army was going into the favelas (shantytowns) and I heard about the plight of the street children.
I think when you're faced with a plight that's inescapable, and there's something you can do about it, you hope you can make a difference.
