Mark was accused of being involved in a military coup last year in Equatorial Guinea, Carol believes that his actions caused her mother "hurt and worry".
He has admitted buying a helicopter gunship that was to be used in the coup and was given a four year suspended sentence for helping fund the potential mercenaries.
In an interview with GMTV Carol said: "Now it's all in the past tense and I have spoken to Mark several times since.
"Sometimes you have to put things behind you both in politics and in bog-standard life,"
In the interview Carol revealed how pleased her mother was that she had been crowned Queen of the Jungle.
She said: "She was terribly pleased for me when I won. She cheered and thought it was very much in the Thatcher spirit, so I've done something right for a change."
How would you be able to live to the expectations of a mother like that? Hopefully now the delightful Carol has come into her own, she currently has several TV projects and a publishing deal in the pipeline.
