Pregnant Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge Misses Prince William's Polo Match

She's believed to be at home resting

Pregnant Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge opted out of accompanying her husband Prince William to the annual Audi Charity Polo Challenge in Chester yesterday, with the mum to be reportedly resting at home instead.

It's just a few weeks before the 31 year-old is due to give birth to her first child and according to Marie Claire, despite attending last year she opted to stay home this time as she continues to prepare for the royal arrival.

The Duchess has slowly been winding down her royal duties as her due date approaches. Last week she did one event, the Queen's annual Garden Party at Buckingham Palace and she's also expected to attend the Coronation service to mark 60 years since the Queen was crowned on June 2, 1953.

Kate's final engagement will be June 13, when she'll be naming a cruise ship in Southampton. A spokesperson from St James' Palace previously confirmed the Duchess will be taking a period of maternity leave following the arrival of the baby, though it is up to her how long she decides to stay out of the spotlight.

This week Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith claimed the Duchess will be moving in with her parents for the first six weeks after the baby arrives so she can get as much help as possible as she begins life as a mum.

"The fact that they're taking the baby to Carole's for the first six weeks is genius," he told OK Magazine.

"Carole's a brilliant mum – she is 10 years older than me and practised on me – and I think it's the right thing to do. It will take the pressure off Kate."
