Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' Claims Spotify's Number One Track In New Chart

Duo's new music is a hit

Daft Punk have claimed the first number ever one track on the new Spotify Chart launched today (May 21) with their monster hit 'Get Lucky'.

'Get Lucky' has held it's position on the top of the Official UK Singles chart for the past four weeks and looks set to become the biggest selling song of the year so far.

The electro duo have also released their highly-anticipated album 'Random Access Memories', this week to mass critical acclaim while bookmakers are expecting the record to become the fastest selling album ever in the UK toppling the record currently held by Oasis's 'Be Here Now'.

Earlier this year, the collaboration with Chic's Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams became the most streamed song ever in one day on Spotify.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis currently trail behind Daft Punk with their phenomenally successful single 'Thrift Shop' while Rudimental's 'Waiting All Night' completes the top three.

The chart will be updated every Monday which allows subscribers to play music from the charts as well as allow listeners to play tracks from the previous weeks. Spotify users will also be able to see how many times a song has been played since displaying their total number of global plays since October 2008.

Steve Savoca, Head of Content at Spotify, says: “What’s so powerful about the streaming charts is they let you hear what people are really listening to, right now, and not just what they’re buying.

“Now artists can get immediate feedback from their fans on how their music is performing on Spotify.”
