Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge's Royal Birth Will Be Announced On Twitter

Baby's arrival will be on social networking site according to new report

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge will be the first royal mother to have the arrival of her child to be announced on Twitter, according to a new report.

Traditionally the news of a royal arrival involves a notice being put up outside of Buckingham Palace but in the age of super fast communications and the internet it appears the royals are more than willing to stay in step with technology and according to Now magazine, will make the announcement online.

The 31 year-old is due to give birth in mid July and will no doubt cause a flurry of messages on social networking site when the eagerly awaited arrival is finally here.

It's not the first time Kate and husband Prince William have set the precedence when it comes to modernising the royal family, their 2010 November engagement was also the first royal wedding to be announced on Twitter. Clarence House's official account made the announcement then, shortly before an official statement appeared on the Prince of Wales' website.

It won't be long before we'll be hearing about the royal arrival, with Kate due in just under two months.

The royal initially had a worrying start to her pregnancy after she was hospitalised for sever morning sickness in December but has since blossomed and despite being seven months pregnant appears to have more energy than ever.

Her last public engagement will be the naming of a new cruise liner on June 14 in Portsmouth.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed to EntertainmentWise last month that the Duchess will be taking time off following the baby's arrival, however it's Kate's personal choice how long or short this maybe.
