TV BAFTA 2013: Sheridan Smith Didn't Think She 'Stood Stand A Chance'

The Mrs Biggs star has confessed she never expected to win big at the TV BAFTAs 2013...

Nobody could deny that Sheridan Smith was utterly shocked when her name was called as the winner for Leading Actress at the TV BAFTAs 2013. The actress was so stunned she dropped the F-bomb during her acceptance speech - but, now she's had time to digest her win, she's revealed why she thought she didnt stand a chance at winning...

Let's just relive the moment a visibly taken-aback Sheridan grabbed that award first, shall we?

"You shouldn't cry, you look like a k**b. Oh f**k, sorry!"

Best acceptance speech ever? We think so - made even better by the actress' self-deprecating and humble nature at the backstage press conference:

“I didn’t think I stood a chance and when they said my name it was like an out of body experience.”

In fact, Sheridan also doubted she would get the role in the first place, explaining that her comedy background left her uncertain as to whether the Mrs Biggs production team would see her as a "risk".

“I didn’t think I’d get it because I’d mainly done comedy and I think they kind of took a risk on me.”

Either way, we're over the moon that Sheridan bagged that award - not least of all because it clearly meant so much to her. Congratulations again on your TV BAFTA success!
