With the final of The US version of The Office approaching, it has been suggested that Steve Carell will make a return to the show as his character Michael Scott.
Despite TV Line reporting the news, executive producer Greg Daniels dismissed the idea that Steve will be making a comeback, telling the media recently: "I think Steve felt, and I agree, that the ‘Goodbye, Michael’ episode was his goodbye and he didn’t want to overshadow the ending that all the other characters deserved".
The site has gone on to claim that the comedian will in fact appear on the show.
In fact, the site has quoted sources claiming that if Steve does make a comeback to the show, it will be as a guest appearance rather than a starring role.

As TVLine claim that the actor, who left the show in 2011, will be making a comeback, his rep has insisted that he will not be resurrecting his role as Michael Scott.
As the speculation continues to swirl, Steve has yet to approach the subject on his official Twitter account.
Whilst Steve's return may not be set in stone, it has been claimed that former The Office cast members Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak will be making a return to the show which will come to an end on May 16.
According to Ace Showbiz, the episode will also feature a wedding.
