Jodie Foster is determined to give her sons the perfect childhood as she never had one.

Her successful movie career that began when she was a child meant that Foster, now 43, missed out on a lot of stuff�but did get dead rich.

She wants her sons, Charles 7, and Kit 4, to have as much fun as possible while they are young.

Foster said: "I grew up being very aware I was different. That's why I have a psychological need for Charlie and Kit to have normal childhoods.

"Just a few weekends ago we spent the whole time with friends who had rented an enormous waterslide. After playing on it all day, my boys were banged-up, plastered with mud and utterly exhausted. They loved it and I loved it.

"I look back and I didn't have days like that when I was a child. I was too busy working."
