'They're Still Friendly': Katy Perry And John Mayer 'Split Won't Last'

Couple have reportedly split after eight months together

Katy Perry and John Mayer reportedly broke up earlier this week, but according to a new report, friends doubt the split will last and claim the duo will be back together soon.

The couple, who started dating last Summer and split briefly last August, had been rumoured to be moving in together and even getting engaged but according to Us Weekly are no longer together.

“It’s sad,” a source told the publication, giving hope of a reconciliation they added: “It’s not over until it’s over. You have to see how things play out.”

But according a source close to the couple the break up isn't as serious as first reported and the couple are on a “break” rather than completely finished.

“It's more of a break than a break-up,” an insider told HollywoodLife. “You’ll probably see them hanging out sooner then later and hooking up again. They remain very friendly.”

The reported split has come as a shock to fans, with Mayer recently admitting there was something different about his new romance.

The notorious Hollywood womaniser, who has dated Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston said during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning: "For the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship,"

"I really don't. I'm not in a high-profile...I know it's high profile. It's hard to explain."

"For me, it feels like something that's very human," he explained.

When asked if he planned on marrying anytime soon, Mayer wasn't exactly adverse to the idea. "Of course!" he replied when asked if tying the knot was in his future. "I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut," he said. "That's what you do."
