Billie Joe Armstrong has opened up about the substance abuse issues that saw him spend time in rehab last year.
The Green Day singer has battled alcohol and prescription drug issues for years.
And things got so bad for the musician last year that he had a meltdown while on stage at a radio festival in Las Vegas.
“I couldn’t predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night,” he told Rolling Stone.
“I’d wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn’t remember how. It was a complete blackout.”
The star’s issues came to a head in September when he launched into an on-stage tirade after he was told his band needed to finish their set.

“The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, ‘How bad was it?’ She said, ‘It’s bad.’ I called my manager. He said, ‘You’re getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.”
Following his spell in rehab, Billie released a statement thanking fans for their support. He also paid tribute to his friends and family in the heartfelt message.
“Dear friends… I just want to thank you for all the love you’ve shown for the past few months,” he wrote.
“Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friend and family. I’m getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on. We can’t wait to get on the road and live out loud!”
