Jennifer Hudson, one of the most successful American Idol contestants, has praised Mariah Carey for her role on the show's judging panel. The superstar has given her nod of approval to the addition of having a singer judging on the show.
Jennifer Hudson came seventh on the show in season three and has gone on to have a brilliant career - she even won an Academy Award for her role in Dreamgirls.
The singer has given her nod of approval to Mariah Carey's involvement with American Idol. She spoke of the show on Live! With Kelly and Micheal, saying: "I'm happy she's there because she's a singer, so she knows what to expect, how to judge, even the position that the kids are in when they're auditioning."

However, the singer admitted that she will always love the original panel of judges, who judged her during her time on the show. She confessed: "It's taken a bit to get used to the new judges.
"I come from American Idol, so I'm used to seeing Simon, Paula and Randy.
"So now it's new faces, and to me, [Cowell, Abdul and Jackson] represented the show. It's kind of awkward for me to see it with new judges."
The singer still loves the show, and is very grateful for the platform it gave her. She commented on how successful it is: "It's always been a phenomenon. I'm proud to have come from American Idol, so I just say, go out on top."
We love seeing Mariah on the judging panel, too! Have you been enjoying the new series so far?
