'I'm On Instagram!' Madonna Joins The Digital Photo Age

The Material Girl posted a photo of her sipping from a martini glass

During her reign as Queen of Pop these last 30 years, Madonna has embraced every fashion or pop culture trend, even managing to set a few herself - and today she finally jumped on the Instagram bandwagon.

The Material Girl opened an account on the photo-sharing network and posted a photo of her sipping from a martini glass complete with green olives swimming in the cocktail.

She posted the snap along with the ever-so-charming caption: "Cheers motherf******! I'm on Instagram."

And much excitement soon ensued as her millions of fans rushed not only to follow her, but post welcoming messages on her page.

Madonna posts her first photo on Instagram, 10/02/2013

One user, called 'bigmama89', wrote: "omg omg omg. i've been waiting for so much time!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!"

A user from the UK called 'greatblighty' said, "welcome baby! XXX from England!" while another called 'taychatlc' wrote: "Awesome! This should be fun @madonna."

But one couldn't resist having a dig at one of her chart rivals and alluded to the fact that Madge had drawn in more ratings for her Super Bowl performance last year than Beyonce did this year. Calling themselves 'madicon', they wrote: "The REAL Queen of Pop...and the Superbowl."

And Madonna is the superstar who just keeps on giving after it was revealed that she is to auction off her costumes and gear from her MDNA tour to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, including the red and white majorette costume along with some props from the set.

She actually began taking donations last November, a month after the devastating storm struck New Jersey and New York, while performing at Madison Square Garden.

As she peeled off her clothes, the crowd started throwing money on stage and she told them: "This money is not for me. We are collecting money for victims of Hurricane Sandy so please feel free to be generous as I freeze my ass off."
