'Forgiveness, Albeit Difficult Is Wisdom' Frank Ocean Drops Assault Charges Against Chris Brown

'No criminal charges' following carpark brawl

Frank Ocean has released a statement revealing he has dropped any charges against Chris Brown following the pair's argument in LA last month.

In a statement posted on his website, Ocean said: "As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man."

"But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."

Ocean and Brown were involved in an altercation in an LA studio carpark on January 27. According to reports the musicans got into an argument over a parking spot resulting into an alleged six man brawl.

Police were called to the scene after witnesses claimed that Brown punched Ocean during the fight. Ocean appeared to confirm the incident,  posting two messages on Twitter claiming he was "jumped":

"Got jumped by Chris and a couple guys. Lol. I only wish [Ocean's dog] Everest was there," he tweeted. "Cut my finger now I can't play with two hands at the Grammys."

It appears Ocean has forgiven his rival though, perhaps in time for their appearance at the Grammy's this month. The singers will compete for the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the event on February 10.
