The service will be held at York Minster and will be attended by the Countdown host�s friends, family and TV colleagues.
Whitely died in June following a heart operation in Leeds, he was 61.
Whitely hosted the student�s favourite programme, �Countdown� for 23 years and became a cult figure.
He has been replaced by Des Lynam, but is of course, irreplaceable.
Admittance to the memorial service is by invitation only.
