She's already had a huge start to 2013, performing for President Obama and a worldwide TV audience of millions at this month's inauguration and now it's been revealed that Kelly Clarkson is officially the highest earning American Idol contestant.
It's sometimes hard to believe that superstar Kelly started her career way back in 2002 on the first ever season of Idol, going on to win the show. Eleven years later and according to Forbes magazine Clarkson is the most successful contestant, in money terms at least.
The singer came out on top of a success list after pulling in a whopping £5 million over a 12-month period, beginning in May, 2011.

Fellow Idol champion Carrie Underwood shared second place with rocker Chris Daughtry with earnings of £3.1 million, while country singer Scotty MCCreery came in third with £2.5 million.
Somewhat surprisingly Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson could only manage fourth after place after raking in £1.9 million. Jordin Sparks meanwhile rounded out the top five with a modest £1.2 million.
Other singers to make the top 10 include Adam Lambert, Katharine MCPhee, Kellie Pickler, David Archuleta and David Cook.
