Beyonce's fans have reacted to the news today that the superstar allegedly lip synched during her performance of 'The Star Spangled Banner' for President Obama's inauguration ceremony yesterday, with many saying they're disappointed with their music idol.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Marine Corp Band, which provides the music for the Inauguration, appeared to confirm today that Beyonce did not sing live. According to the rep it's standard procedure to record a backing track before a big live event such as yesterday's, just in case things go wrong. The source alleges though that Beyonce decided to use the track at the last minute and lip sync instead of singing live:

Fans were soon taking to twitter in their thousands to comment on the reports, with a very mixed reaction. Many stuck up for the star:

"@Ka_REEEMa Stop hating on #beyonce for lip singing! Half of you couldnt even sing to one person live, yet she does all the time. #PureTalent"
Others referred to the moment when the star removed her ear piece during the song, which would be a pretty staged move if she wasn't singing live:
"@Judah_Karis Gotta give it to Beyonce for selling the performance tho. She even took out her earpiece mid song for dramatic effect."
Meanwhile some seemed tired of the constant rumours surrounding Beyonce, chalking this one up to just another bit of speculation:
"@dinahpowers The Beyonce lip-syncing allegations are just as ludicrous as the her not really being pregnant rumors. I WONT BELIEVE IT!!"
Whilst there has been a lot of support, other fans seem disappointed with the singer:

Finally Jess Dweck, a writer for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, added some humour to proceedings with the comment: "@TheDweck Wow, Beyonce is just like us. She lip-syncs to Beyonce."
