Selena Gomez is rumoured to have broken up with Justin Bieber, and the latest stage in her transition from teen idol to Hollywood star is the movie 'Spring Breakers', which today got its UK release date of April 5 2013.
The movie is a departure for Gomez, taking on a more adult role as a college student who's part of a group that fall in with the wrong crowd on spring break when they meet a drug dealer (James Franco) and have to grow up fast in a drugs and sex fuelled drama.
Co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson reportedly have one particular steamy scene where they engage in a threesome with Franco, something Vanessa wasn't entirely comfortable with.
The 'High School Musical' star told Canadian magazine Glow: "It was very nerve-racking for me. I told my agent that I never want to do it ever again."
The film, written and directed by Harmony Korine, looks set to see Selena and Vanessa move away from their previously clean-cut image, which may in the future see them win more daring roles such as that of Ana in the movie version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.
Richard Thompson, the head of Universal Pictures Local Aceuisitions said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be working with Universal Pictures UK on one of the most exciting releases of 2013. Harmony Korine has created a bold, fresh and exciting film and we could not be happier to welcome it to our upcoming slate.”
