Louis Tomlinson (born December 24, 1991) is best known as a member of the English boy band One Direction. Raised in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Louis auditioned as a solo act on the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. He was then paired with fellow solo auditionees, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik by guest judge, Nicole Scherzinger to form a five-piece boy band. They later called themselves One Direction and went on to come third in the competition. Despite being runners-up, Simon Cowell signed them to his record company Syco Entertainment and they released their debut album, Up All Night in 2011 which went to number 1 in the US Billboard 100 charts. The band went on to release a second album, Take Me Home which went triple Platinum in the UK. Their third studio album, Midnight Memories went to number 1 in 20 countries. In August 2013, Louis was signed by the Doncaster Rovers football team on a non-contract basis, and has campaigned on social media to raise money for the team.
