Beyonce, born Beyonce Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981, is one of the most successful solo female singers of all time. Born and raised in Houston, Texas by her parents, father Mathew Knowles and Tina Knowles, along with her younger sister Solange Knowles, Beyonce began her performing career aged eight. Then, she met LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland, and they later formed girl group Destiny’s Child. In 1998, Destiny’s Child released their self-titled debut album which featured their hit breakout single ‘No, No No.’ They scored their first number one single ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’ and went on to achieve success with albums including ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’ and ‘Survivor’ before their split in 2004. Destiny’s Child are one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In 2003, Beyonce released her debut solo album ‘Dangerously In Love’ beginning a record-breaking career on her own. She went on to record some of the most popular songs in music, including ‘Single Ladies,’ ‘Crazy In Love’ and ‘Halo.’ Beyonce is also one of the biggest touring artists with the I Am… World tour and Mrs. Carter Show world tour grossing millions of dollars. She has won a total of 482 awards so far in her career, including 17 Grammys, six of which she won on one night. Beyonce has appeared in several films such as Austin Powers In Goldmember, The Fighting Temptations and The Pink Panther. In 2006, she won a Best Performance By An Actress Golden Globe nomination for her role in Dreamgirls. The singer has a number of fragrances and a clothing line, Dereon, with her mother Tina. Beyonce is believed to have begun dating rapper Jay Z in 2003 and they married in a secret ceremony in 2008. They welcomed their first child together, daughter Blue Ivy, on January 7, 2012.
