Robert Pattinson has been accused of glamourising smoking after posing fag-in-hand for a hot new photoshoot.

The actor - and real-life nicotine fiend – appears through a haze of cigarette smoke in a series of gritty shots in an upcoming issue of Dossier magazine.

In the no-frills pictures, the Twilight star plays on his scruffy image in jeans, vests and T-shirts, and rocks some full-on bed-head hair.

But it's not just Rob doing the smouldering - he is also clutching a cigarette in two of the shots.

While it's not the first time the actor has been snapped puffing away - he has been seen lighting up while 'off-duty', and sucked on a cigarette in a recent GQ shoot - these latest pictures have made Rob a target for critics who accuse him of flaunting his bad habit.

First off, smoking is LEGAL and everybody and their mom knows it's bad for you. But then, so is junk food. So give the boy a break. Second: I am glad Rob is being himself and not over-managing his image to please the tweens' parents. Third: those pictures are so damn hot, they should be rated NC17 anyway.

Maybe not the best of ideas but give the guy a break. So far we have seen positive things like articles saying he's polite at restaurants and to his crazy fans and that he is a "Smart Boozer". He can't please everyone. Kids need to learn not to idolize celebrities. Smoking is not cool but it's what he chooses to do with his life. Teens need to make that decision based on their lives not his. He's an adult and it’s legal.

Why don't you leave him alone? His fan base is 14-16 year olds and older. Their not idolizing him, their drooling over him and admiring his amazing looks. I'm so sick of peole scrutinizing people they don't even know. I don't think he's ever claimed to be perfect, so do leave him alone. This is just like the shit that came out when people found out that Dan Radcliffe smokes too. There are worst things in the woorld then smoking. It's not anything to stick your nose into

Ok this is just crazy! who in the world doesn't know what smoking does to you? seriously! this poor guy, leave him alone with all of this crazy stuff. If a whole bunch of teenager girls are going to start smoking because he does that's just retarted.I'm a smoker and have been for 15 years, I didn't start smoking because I thought it was cool or because a celebrity I liked did it. I believe this young actor is an excellent actor and has talent in music -- a fresh new approach to music with soul and heart; however, the cigarette smoking in ads and campaigns as often as he does is not a good image for the young people viewing the Twilight series who glamorize him. The age-old question -- does a celebrity have a responsibility to his viewers. I believe -- yes.

First off Rob never wanted to be a "teen idol". He is a serious and devoted actor. Because of the success of Twilight he has this expected to become some kind of "role model". He never asked to be a teen idol or a role model. He is just a guy making art. Hes not trying to influence anyone.

I think it's his lungs that are on the line so if he wants to smoke, smoke. I grew up in the 80's, our cartoon characters smoked, my parents somked, every movie icon from that time smoked also. People need to get a life. Who cares if he smokes. Smokers are more aware of the health risks than non-smokers. Who's business is it anyway what he does in his private life. he smokes, people smoke..get over it. He's an adult and parents are worried about thier little girls that have no minds for themselves then have more problems then just worrying about what the flavor of the month is doing. I agree it's Rob's business whether he smokes or not and he doesn't owe it to his fans not to but I think posing with a fag wasn't the best idea and doesn't really add anything to the pics.basically they would have been stupidly hot with or without the cigarette.

Totally agree... Leave him alone. So he's got a vice, don't we all? It's not HIS job to teach your kids not to smoke, it's YOUR job. He's old enough to make his own decisions and I'm tired of people blaming celebs for the dumb things their own kids do. If we hide everything, children will never learn. Expose them to life so they can live an informed life. I say BULLCRAP to people that say they started smoking b/c someone made it look sexy! Responsibility lies upon the individual to take care of their own self. If they think they should smoke b/c they feel it will make them look sexy or cool then there are serious issues needing addressed in that person’s self-esteem than setting blame on someone or something such as this.

With fame comes responsibility in my opinion. And of course Twilight made Robert Pattinson super famous, mostly to teens. And it's also a sad reality that teenagers seek to emulate those they think are cool. What he chooses to do on his own time is his own decision, but it's a whole other thing to have it splashed on the pages of a magazine which adds a certain amount of glamour to it. He should be more responsible with his image.

I honestly don't think that rob is giving a bad example to his young teenage fans or to anybody else because he is a smoker. He isn't telling his fans smoking is awesome you should try it! If they smoke too its because they want too, they make their own choices. I am sure that lots of his fans started smoking way before they found out that the british actors smokes. Don't forget it is the photographer/magazine who got him to pose that way and then published it... so who is at fault here really? If Rob wants to smoke then that is his choice and he shold not be judged for it. It is up to him what he does and it is of no concern to anyone else.
