Congratulatory messages have been flooding in for newly engaged couple Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz from her older sister Jessica, father Joe and ex-boyfriend Ryan Cabrera.

Jessica, who rose to fame in reality TV show Newlyweds, suffered a painful divorce from ex-husband Nick Lachey, but is ecstatic about her sister’s impending nuptials.

She says: "My sister is overflowing with joy. Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn't be happier."

Father Joe is also proud of his little girl’s choice of partner, praising the Fall Out Boy bassist for asking his permission first.

He tells People: "(Pete) did ask me. I told him that I would be honoured to have him as part of my family."

And Ashlee’s ex-boyfriend Ryan Cabrera is also happy for the pair. He tells Us magazine: "I like him a lot - I think they're really good together.

"I met him a couple times, and he was really nice and intelligent, so I was like, 'Very cool, go for it!'"

Pete i am so mad at u why do u wont to marry Ashley my friends told me that u just wonted to be friends with her! I know hate is a really strong word but i hate her so much. I did not like her even when i did not know who u were. And i could not see u be a dad at all but i bet u would be the best dad ever. Is this a late April Fools Joke or something because i do not think this is not funny at all! I love you so much Pete what is going to happen to your fans if u get marred. I love u Pete.

Emily, that is one of the dumbest comments I have ever read. And "Wonted" is actually spelled "WANTED," with an A. Must still be in middle school... And April Fool's is on April 1st, 10 days ago. Most likely Pete isn't going to read your message, he has better things to do rather than read gossip about himself. There are a lot of "rock stars" (I'm using that term loosely) who are married and continue, most likely nothing will bad will happen.

Emily, get a life! Celebrities don't have to live their lives according to our dreams. I don't think Ashlee Simpson is talented, but she seems to be a nice person and obviously Pete is crazy about her. At the end of the day, he's NEVER going to be with you... or me... or any of us. It's a dream, love. Just be happy for him that he's happy cause as any FOB fan will know, he's NOT normally a happy person! And I think they'll be great parents! Both of them!

The only reason daddy joe likes Pete is that even though Ashlee is not pretty -- she is better looking than he is -- in the case of Nick and Jessica -- Nick was the best looking - therefore daddy joe did not like him.
