Radio Jock Mocks Heath Ledger Tragedy ...more Heath Ledger »

A FOX news host has found himself at the centre of a severe backlash following his distasteful comments surrounding actor Heath Ledger’s death on his radio show.

John Gibson allegedly played an iconic quote from Ledger's hit-flick, Brokeback Mountain, in which the actor said 'I wish I knew how to quit you' and then mockingly joked, 'Well, he found out how to quit you.'

Gibson continued to play another audio piece from the flick, in which Ledger - who died from a suspected drug overdose on Tuesday - said, 'We’re dead,' before yet-again mocking the actor by saying, ‘We’re dead' and playing the clip again.

Gibson also allegedly called the 28-year-old star a “weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" – later on going on to suggest that Ledger took his own life because "a serious position in the [stock] market" or because he "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night."

Were Gibson's comments out of order? Post your thoughts below!

  • What a disgusting human being to mock someone after they have died. Gibson you are a douchebag and should be fired for these and many other heartless comments about other in the past. You are not cutting edge, you are an ugly American in all ways.

  • About what I would expect from FOX-and bear in mind, this is the station that tries to tout Christianity and make liberals look heartless. What a discusting, pitiful man. Now can someone tell me why we can take Emus off, but not this loser? Hence why myself or no one I know watches FOX.

  • I would like to say that I am a conservative, I watch Fox, and as with all media outlets, I take it with a grain of salt. To vilify all conservatives is exactly the kind of thing that Gibson is horribly guilty of- bigotry and arrogance- closed minded ugliness that gets society nowhere. Gibson should be ashamed, and I will not watch him again, but he does not speak for me, and I will not lower myself to judging all left-minded people in this blog, many of whom I'm sure are fair-minded people.

  • Seems as though he had it out for Heath for his Brokeback MT peformance. He's an insecure in-the-closet bastard bully! The facts are, there wer no illegegal drugs found. All this hype that Heath was a user is unfounded. Unethical reporing. HE SHOULD BE FIRED!!!

  • GIBSON, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!! I cannot believe the cruelty that constantly pours out of his mouth. He should be fired, and if he isn't then he needs to learn to shut his mouth. The comments he made were disrespectful and had to be extremely hurtful to both his family and friends.

  • I can't believe anyone, with even an ounce of compassion could say such despicable things about another human being. Wow, I guess this sinks to a new low, even for journalism. How could you be so cruel, Mr. Gibson? Heath was a very talented and dear person, whom has made me and many others smile with his wonderful gift of acting. I won't be allowing FOX into my home anymore. FOX should be more careful who they hire. Is being sinister a requirement for a job at your company?

  • People deal with death in different ways, obviously Johns way is to mock death. We should all be so strong.
